The New Design Fixes It

Removing permanent cubicles to create an open-concept space  will allow for larger meetings, group discussions, and workshops/presentations by guest speakers, organizations, or internal staff.

Updating technology, equipment, and flooring will ensure the space supports modern digital learning needs (presentations, remote workshops, multimedia use), making it more functional and welcoming.

Transforming the area into a flexible common space will give members and staff a shared gathering area to collaborate, orient new members, run educational or orientation sessions, and strengthen community bonds.

The New Design Fixes It

Removing dividing cubicles so that colleagues can work side-by-side on projects, facilitating collaboration, peer support, and shared tasks rather than isolated work.

Installing better computers and equipment to provide reliable digital resources for members studying, doing homework, remote learning, or job-search / employment preparation.

Creating open-flow, accessible layout with modern flooring and design will establish an inviting, inclusive, and accessible learning environment that encourages members to use the space for education, studying, and community work.

The remodeled spaces align with GAC’s core purpose: offering adults experiencing mental illness opportunities for education, supported learning, employment readiness, and community inclusion.

Open-concept, better-equipped shared areas reduce isolation and promote community, consistent with the “work-ordered day” and peer-partner model, members and staff working side-by-side in a non-clinical environment.

New technology and study infrastructure support educational goals, whether GED, college, remote courses, which GAC already provides support for (e.g., tutoring, computer access, study spaces).
